Dear Beth and Julie – I am really creeped out. I just read this article on CNN.com about a guy who was on the Dating Game in the 70′s and he was the winner! His picture from then looks really creepy, and now he’s worse. How could they let this guy on the show? And is there anything on his face that would have warned someone even if they couldn’t find his criminal record? I mean, I would be scared to be on any game show if they let guys like this on the show!

Dear Freaked Out -
I’ll let Julie give you a read on the face. Here’s my two cents. While it’s true that people slip through the cracks sometimes, it is less likely these days than back in 1978. Back then there was no internet, and most states didn’t share criminal records. Or if they did, it took weeks for the information to travel to the other state. Now, we know more about each other than we probably WANT to know. (Facebook, Myspace, DontDateHimGirl.com, Google, all will tell you a lot about a person.)
This IS a really good reminder though. Just because someone is handsome or pretty, it doesn’t mean they are safe. It pays to learn a little face reading, and to listen to your gut. Like it says in the CNN story, one of the other contestants thought this Alcala guy was strange.
So, what do you do? Listen to your echoes. If your gut says something is wrong, gracefully and quickly bow out. Trust yourself. Don’t keep second guessing and saying, “Oh I should give him a chance.” NO! Get the hell outta dodge!
Sometimes people think they need to “take a stand” or “tell someone off.” NOT necessary. Considering the history of this guy (he had a conviction in 1968 — so I don’t need to say “allegedly”) it would NOT be a good idea to confront him. You could quietly express your mistrust to someone in charge, and then get away from him.
So – BE Freaked out enough to be careful. Do your homework. Listen to your gut, and pay attention to the signs Julie points out.
Great Question, Thanks!
Beth

Dear Freaked Out,
Face It Darlin’, there isn’t a single sign on the face that will point to a serial killer. But when you put many warning signs together, trust that you have trouble. A few of those warning signs are easy to see. In the picture of Alcala above, you will see that there are big differences between the left side of his face and his right side. I have never seen a face that is 100% symmetrical. There are always differences between the two sides. In face reading, it is important to note those differences. If the differences are slight, it is not cause for concern, but worth noting. If the face is extremely asymmetrical, this means the person is very unbalanced. You can see this in Alcala’s Dating Game picture above – he looks like two different people.
The eyes are the most revealing feature on the face if you are trying to read what someone is thinking. The eyes show emotions, stress, anxiety, happiness, depression and more. Here are three signs you can easily identify through the eyes:
When the white is showing between the iris and the lower lid in both eyes, it indicates extreme mental or emotional stress and possible fearful feelings or worry. It also indicates deception. This is a warning sign that the person is extremely stressed and possibly hiding something. This person is “thinking” stressful thoughts. Notice if it’s only happening in one eye.
Violent - Stressed to the point of possible violenceIf you see someone with the white showing above the iris, it indicates not only stress but also that the person may react in a violent way. For example, a person who is approaching the psychological flight-or-fight threshold may have white showing above the iris.
If you see someone with the white showing all the way around the iris, you need to be careful and use caution. This is a sign of someone who is in a state of extreme mental disconnect and may not even be aware of his or her actions. Many times you will see
this in a person who is going into shock after a catastrophic event. This feature is also seen in people who are under the influence of dangerous drugs. The face is a mirror, a reflection of what someone is thinking and doing.
Without a doubt, becoming aware of facial expressions and body language will expand your knowledge of that person and help you to see possible warning signs. Psychologists and law enforcement officials know this is true. This is why they frequently consult with Face Reading Experts like me.

Hi Beth & Julie – did you see this?
A California jury recommended Tuesday that a man who once appeared on “The Dating Game” be executed for the murders of four women and a child: http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2010/03/10/video-jury-recommends-death-for-serial-killer/
